Your guide to Shrewsbury Pride - what you need to know

Thousands are expected to flock to Shrewsbury this week for the town's annual Pride celebrations.

It features three days of events which organisers say is entirely funded by donations and run by volunteers.

The event debuted in 2023, with organisers saying it was a major step forward for the town.

Here is everything you can get involved with across the weekend:

Festivities start at 12:00 to 16:00 BST, and include an afternoon workshop at the English Bridge Studios on Abbey Foregate and a LGBTQIA+ community art workshop about change and loss.

It's followed at 17:00 to 20:00 BST by a craft session at the English Bridge Studios, where the public can make fabric artworks, flowers and patches inspired by one of the six Pride flag colours.

Later, from 19:00 to 21:00 BST, Pride activities "kick off" with Camp karaoke at the In Good Hands Music Café in Frankwell.

There's plenty to see and do on Saturday - the main day of the celebrations.

Starting at 10:00 BST and running until 16:00 BST, there is a Queer art market at English Bridge Studios, in Abbey Foregate.

It'll see things like illustrations, ceramics, and crochet being sold, all made by queer artists.

Head over to the Shrewsbury Unitarian Church on High Street between 11:00 BST and 16:00 BST, for charity stalls, information booths and merch stands.

Just down the road in the town square, the parade will kick off at 12:00 BST, and it includes a performance from The People's Show Choir in St Mary's Churchyard.

Starting at the same time is Pride punk, a series of musical performances held at LOOP on Castle Foregate - performers include Versaints and Hey Alamo.

Back at the Unitarian Church at 13:00 BST will be a Pride blessing of queer joy and a LGBTQ+ celebration after the parade.

There will be variety acts and a poetry open mic from 13:00 BST to 18:00 BST at the In Good Hands Music Cafe, while spoken word and music performances kick off at Albert's Shed from 16:00 BST to 21:00 BST.

There are also a couple of after parties to head to - the Bricklayer's Arms is hosting one from 19:00 BST, and OOP is hosting one from 21:00 BST.

There are still things to see on Sunday, the final day of the celebrations.

The Crown in Abbey Foregate will host live performances, music, games and cabaret, featuring acts such as Catrin Feelings and Charra Tea.

Finally, Albert's Shed will open its doors again for poetry, live music and live performances from 14:00 BST to 20:00 BST.

This includes 1990's club classics, Kelley Phillips hosting a camp singalong, and local performer, Dee.

Rounding off the entire weekend is Boom Boom Womb - a Shrewsbury band who recently featured on BBC Introducing, who will perform the finale of the event.
