A woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a bungalow was destroyed in a fire.

The blaze broke out at the property on Westhead Walk in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 01:00 BST on Friday, Staffordshire Police said.

Firefighters put the blaze out, a force spokesperson added, and nobody was reported to have been injured.

The woman, 42, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

She remained in custody for questioning while officers investigated the incident, police confirmed.
