Inquest delays into videographer's parachute death
BBCAn inquest into the death of a videographer, who died during a parachute jump two years ago, has been hit by further delays.
Sam Cornwell, 46, from Hampshire, died in April 2024 when his main parachute failed to open properly as he was filming another skydiver near Shotton airfield in County Durham.
Coroner Jeremy Chipperfield heard a "parallel investigation" by Durham County Council into what happened that day was ongoing.
The jump operators, Sky-High Skydiving, also requested more time to answer the council's questions, the inquest heard. The case was adjourned until 2 June.
In October, the coroner apologised to the mother of Mr Cornwell's children for delays in concluding the hearing.
At the time, he told Leni Boudewijn: "A long time has passed and I regret it has not been possible to provide closure before now, but it is necessary to do things properly."
