A man was arrested after reports of a suspicious item at a property in Wisbech

A 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possessing explosive items has been released on bail, police said.

It came after a 100m (328ft) cordon set up during the incident in Wisbech town centre was lifted.

Cambridgeshire Police had been called to a residential address in Oil Mill Lane, Wisbech at 06:28 BST on Tuesday, following reports of a "suspicious item inside". An explosive ordnance disposal team attended.

It was later confirmed the item was "not dangerous or explosive".

While the cordon was in place, police had advised people to avoid the area around Aldi, Oil Mill Lane and Old Market Street.

Nearby businesses, including the Nene Veterinary Group, closed.

Police have thanked residents for their patience.
