Victim of suspected caravan murder was a 'kind mum'

The family of a woman whose body was found in a caravan has paid tribute to a "caring and incredibly kind mum who loved to laugh".

Susan Lumsden, 62, was discovered at Overstone Lakes holiday park in Sywell, near Northampton, on Monday morning following reports of an assault.

Police arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of murder and have appealed for witnesses or information.

"Mum was a beautiful person inside and out — fun, bubbly, caring and incredibly kind," said Ms Lumsden's family.

"She loved to laugh and had a special way of making those around her smile. Her warmth and loving nature touched so many lives."

They chose the photo above because it captured her "happy spirit" - a person full of "love, laughter and life".

The tribute continued: "Above all, she was a wonderful mum and a much-loved Nanny Sue, Sister, Auntie and friend. She was deeply cherished by her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

"Mum will be missed more than words can say, but the love she gave, the laughter she shared and the memories we made together will remain in our hearts forever. She was truly special and will always be loved."

On Wednesday, Det Ch Insp Ryan Catling said: "Our thoughts remain with Susan's family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time and specialist officers continue to support them.

"Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is progressing, and although we have a man in custody, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Ecton Lane area of Sywell, particularly the caravan park, in the hours leading up to the incident.

"Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they think it may be, is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police as soon as possible."
