A man accused of murdering two people in Cornwall told one of them "it looks like another body's going to need to be buried", a court has heard.

James Desborough, 40, is on trial at Winchester Crown Court, accused of murdering Claudio Aquilino, 57, and Daniel Coleman, 43 in 2025.

The court previously heard Desborough had people living on his land at Paramoor Woods, near Sticker, in May and June 2025.

One of them, Craig Cudmore later told police Desborough was always making comments about wanting a relationship with Coleman's wife Hannah, and he was present when the three were arguing and Desborough made the comment about burying bodies.

Cudmore gave a video interview to police on 9 July 2025, which was played to the jury.

He said he knew the comment had been aimed at Coleman "because he looked directly at Dan".

Cudmore told police Desborough and the married couple had been arguing about alcohol and about Hannah having slept with Desborough.

He said this had been after he had been camping at the site at Paramoor Woods for about a week in late May.

He said Desborough had "turned real nasty" to Coleman and had said "it looks like someone else is going to die and get buried on the site".

"He looked scary, I know he meant it," Cudmore added.

He said Desborough had been "always saying he wanted to beat Dan up and he was due his comeuppance, he was always saying it".

Cudmore said the last time he had spoken to Coleman had been on 2 June 2025 when Coleman had called him.

"The last thing Dan said was 'if I can't have Hannah no-one can, I'm going to kill myself'," he added.

Cudmore said Coleman had been "very upset, drunk and angry" about Hannah's infidelity and added: "He wasn't himself that day."

He said: "After three days [of staying on the site] Des [Desborough] wanted me to do dodgy things, he asked me to grow drugs.

"He asked me to dig big holes, I thought it was for plumbing for portaloos, but now I think there was more to it."

Desborough, of Old Oak Woods, Sticker, denies murdering Aquilino between 17 April and 7 July 2025, and Coleman between 2 June and 7 July 2025.

The trial continues.
