Death of man found in river remains 'unexplained'

Police were called to Town Bridge on Monday

A man's body has been recovered from the River Nene in Peterborough.

Cambridgeshire Police was called to Town Bridge shortly after 08:00 BST on Monday.

A force spokesperson said the death was being treated as unexplained and inquiries were under way to identify the man.

Police believe he may have been in the water since Sunday evening, and have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.
