Man in hospital and two arrested after M1 crash

The crash happened between junction 14 at Milton Keynes and 15 for Northampton

The M1 motorway has been partially closed and a man hospitalised after a collision.

Thames Valley Police was called at about 06:30 BST to a crash on the northbound carriageway of the M1 between junctions 14 for Milton Keynes and 15 for Northampton.

The driver of a black Peugeot 208, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Two men from a grey BYD Seal U car, both 36 and from London, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.

One of them was also arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified and driving while unfit through drugs and drink.

The other man was arrested on suspicion of failing to cooperate with a preliminary test.

Traffic service Inrix reported the incident involved an "an overturned car".

Witnesses have been asked to contact the police.

Police said one lane of the northbound carriageway has been reopened but other lanes are expected to be closed for a few more hours.
