Town to host Nordic Viking-themed Christmas event
North East Lincolnshire CouncilA festive celebration featuring live music, a Christmas market and a Nordic Viking-themed parade is set to return to Grimsby next month.
The Great Grimsby Christmas Festival will take place in the town centre on 28 November from 12:00 to 19:00 GMT, with the Christmas tree lights being switched on at 17:45.
The main stage in St James' Square will host live entertainment throughout the day, including local musicians, a gospel choir and other musical performances.
North East Lincolnshire councillor Bob Callison said: "It'll be a day no one wants to miss out on with live entertainment and plenty of other stalls to look at too."
More than 30 local traders will be selling handmade gifts, crafts and festive treats at markets in St James' Square and Grimsby Minster, the council said.
The festival will see the return of the Christmas Parade, sponsored by Ørsted, which has a Nordic Viking theme.
A willow lantern longboat will be the centrepiece at this year's procession through the town centre.
Residents will be able to make their own willow lanterns to carry in the parade at a free workshop on 14 November.
Businesses are being encouraged to take part in a Christmas shop window competition, based on the Nordic Viking theme.
Entries must be submitted by 26 November, with a £100 voucher for a local restaurant on offer for the winning team.
More information about the festival can be found on the Discover North East Lincolnshire website.
