Three men charged over replica mosque on Moygashel bonfire

The bonfire in Moygashel was set alight before police could remove it

Three men have appeared in court charged in connection with the placing of a replica mosque on a bonfire in July.

The bonfire in Moygashel, County Tyrone, was set alight on 10 July 2026.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) previously said it had planned to remove the bonfire structure but it was ignited before they had the chance to do so.

The three men face charges related to the displaying of written material to stir up hatred or arouse fear.

They are: Tyler Summervile, 28, of Jacksonville Road, Moygashel; Simon Dilworth, 58, of Jacksonville Road, Moygashel and John Black, 38, of Prince Andrew Crescent, Moygashel. They were granted bail at £250 each.

All three men spoke during the hearing at Dungannon Magistrates Court to confirm their name, address and that they understood the charges.

A police officer told the court they believed they could connect the men to the charges.

The men are expected to appear in court again later this month.
