An initiative to help people in Jersey heat homes in a more environmentally-friendly way has been extended until 2030, officials have said.

Jersey's government said property owners could apply for up to £9,000 match funding for an air source heat pump, or up to £4,000 for other approved technologies under the low carbon heating incentive. Low income households could receive up to £15,000 without match funding, it added.

Officials said scheme benefits included lower heating bills, lower carbon emissions and future-proofing properties.

Environment Minister Mary Le Hegarat said it provided "certainty for homeowners and businesses, with investment being put into more efficient heating systems".

Officials said the incentive had helped hundreds of islanders install low-carbon heating systems.

Islanders were reminded applications for an electric vehicle charger incentive and grant towards energy audits had a deadline of 11:59 GMT on 13 December.

"The carbon neutral roadmap has supported islanders in a range of ways over recent years," Le Hegarat said.

"As we move towards the next phase of the roadmap, some schemes are coming to a close as planned, while others will continue to support long-term emission reductions."
