A former hotel in Leicester which closed in December could be refurbished if plans are approved.

The Hilton Leicester, near Fosse Park, was shut permanently at the end of 2025, marking the end of the LivingWell Health Club which was located at the site.

Now, new owner Village Hotel Group has submitted plans to carry out a "comprehensive refurbishment" of the site.

The proposal, submitted to Blaby District Council, will see parts of the 180-room hotel demolished to allow for the building to be restyled.

Plans state an extension to the gym wing will provide additional space for fitness and studio use.

A new courtyard corridor will create a direct and accessible route from the hotel's main entrance and reception to the swimming pool area, the applicant added.

Under the designs, the foyer will also be reconfigured "to deliver a more welcoming and efficient arrival sequence".

The existing restaurant and kitchen will be fully refurbished, and the majority of the back‑of‑house areas and all 180 guestrooms will be retained in their current layout.

Consultation on the plans is open until 19 May, the Local Democracy Reporting Service reports.

A decision is expected by 19 June.
