TV presenter and journalist Stacey Dooley is set to join a litter picking group as part of a new TV series.

Dooley has been filming across the UK for her new series Stacey Dooley Cleans Up, and is due to take part in Clean Our Patch CIC's litter pick, in Plymouth, later.

Group co-founder El Clarke said Dooley would be helping clear an overgrown area in Honicknowle that the group had spent years trying to fix.

"There are some sort of knee-high stinging nettles so I hope she's going to be wearing wellies," she said.

Clarke said the team would be working to clear an area in Masefield Gardens which was "very dark, it's very dingy" and had an historic issue with green fly-tipping.

She said: "We've been plugging away at the area to try and get on top of it for a couple of years, removing as much litter as we can.

"There are just bits that we haven't quite got round to yet, especially with the green fly-tipping waste."

Clarke said she hoped with the help of Dooley they would be able to make the area safer for residents.

"She's going to be helping remove some of the litter that we hadn't got around to dealing with yet.

"We're going to be as I say tackling a lot of the green fly-tip waste that has been dumped down this lane over the last 20 years.

"That's one of the things we're going to be targeting in order to try and make it a safer space for everybody, especially the young people that use it on a regular basis."

The litter pick is due to take place between 10:00 BST and 12:00, and 14:00 and 16:00.
