A man accused of murdering another man who died in hospital after being assaulted in the street will stand trial next year.

Mark Shaw, 43, was critically injured during an attack in Ramshead Crescent, in the Seacroft area of Leeds, on the evening of 9 July and died in hospital four days later.

On Thursday, Hayden Clarke, 27, appeared at Leeds Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter but not guilty to murder.

During the hearing Judge Simon Phillips KC fixed a trial date for 12 January before remanding Clarke, of Halton Moor Road, in Leeds, into custody ahead of his next appearance.
