A man found dead with "multiple injuries" at a property in Barnsley has been named by his family as Russell Baxter.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Wingfield Road at about 21:15 BST on Thursday and found the 41-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday produced an "inconclusive result", South Yorkshire Police said, with further testing required to determine his cause of death.

A 57-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further investigations.

Det Insp Adam Watkinson said: "My thoughts are with Russell's family and loved ones at this incredibly sad time and they remain at the heart of our investigation.

"I am appealing for information from the public who were either in or around the Wingfield Road area on the day of Russell's death."

He said any information received, however "small or insignificant", could be the "missing piece we need in securing justice for Russell's loved ones".
