Malvern Hills awarded £89k to help accessibility
LDRSThe Malvern Hills National Landscape has been awarded £89,000 to improve access to the area by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
Defra has previously given more than £210,000 in funding to the area.
The previous cash has been used to purchase of a disabled buggy, to improve footpath surfaces and to install more disabled parking spaces at nature reserves.
A total of 76 stiles have also been replaced with self-closing pedestrian gates, while a new toilet was also built in Colwall and support has been given to two forest schools.
For the 2026-27 financial year, the Malvern Hills National Landscape itself was funded by £173,490 from Defra plus contributions from five local authorities.
This included £14,594 from Worcestershire County Council and £11,550 from Malvern Hills District Council.
