Police said the fire in Gunnislake on Monday was being treated as suspected arson

A blaze involving two vehicles and overhead electrical cables is being treated as suspected arson.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the fire, at about 05:30 BST, happened on Calstock Road, in Gunnislake, Cornwall.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Saltash and Callington used two hose reels and two breathing apparatuses each to extinguish the blaze.

National Grid said 14 properties temporarily lost power after an electricity pole was on fire and caused damage to overhead cables which required its engineers to isolate the supply.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.
