The Cribs set for 'emotional' hometown show
Lorne Thomson/RedfernsIndie rockers The Cribs have announced their biggest ever hometown concert.
The Wakefield trio are set to headline an outdoor gig as part of Live at Tileyard North in August 2027.
Made up of twin brothers Gary and Ryan Jarman and younger brother Ross Jarman, the band will mark 20 years since the release of breakthrough album 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever' at the show.
Gary, bassist and vocalist, said: "This event is near where our old studio, Springtime, used to be located - so it will be an emotional return."
The band have not played in Wakefield since 2014, when they headlined Long Division Festival.
"We have been determined to try and make a Wakefield show happen for a long time now," said Gary.
"It's always been a bit tricky, because the days when we could just show up and play a secret club show are long gone - there's no way we could get insured and covered for a show like that."
Devon ChambersSupported by Leeds band ¡Forward, Russia!, the concert will be held at Tileyard North on 20 August 2027.
The venue has recently hosted summer concerts from acts including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Fratellis, Ocean Colour Scene and The Vaccines.
The Cribs' ninth and latest studio album, 'Selling a Vibe', reached Number 5 on the UK Album Chart.
Discussing the success of 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever', their third studio album, Gary said: "In hindsight it was a real breakthrough.
"It put us into the mainstream - with all of the benefits and drawbacks that entails. I'm glad we got to experience that, and glad that we made it through unsullied.
"We can feel comfortable returning to it 20 years later and still feel like it holds up, like its sincerity has carried it through."
Toby Womack, from Futuresound Events, said: "I am so pleased to be able to bring back our Live at Tileyard North Series for 2027.
"We couldn't think of a better way to launch our second edition than with The Cribs' first hometown show in over 10 years - this will be incredibly special."
