Bemusement over 'Worchester' M5 sign
Sarah EllisAn M5 motorway sign misspelling the name of a Worcestershire city has left motorists bemused.
The road sign was first spotted by Sarah Ellis, from Malvern, last week, who asked: "Just how wrong can you get it?"
Rather than the correct spelling of 'Worcester', the road sign reads 'Worchester', which Ellis said was "so funny".
The BBC has contacted National Highways for comment.
Discussing the moment she spotted the spelling gaff, Ellis said: "It was dark and I saw the sign in my headlights, and I thought, 'that can't be right'.
"But I obviously didn't have time to stop and look at it, I just registered it and thought I'd have a look next time I go by.
"The next time I went by it was daylight, and there it was, 'Worchester'. The fact the sign was incomplete made me wonder what was going on."
Ellis added: "They've obviously put the sign up and somebody's said, 'that's not right'.
"It's just so funny because people struggle to say 'Worcester' and 'Worcestershire' and there it is for everyone to see. Just how wrong can you get it?"
