A teenage boy has been left with "potentially life-changing" injuries after an unknown substance was thrown at him in a city centre.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the substance was thrown in Exchange Square in Manchester at 18:00 BST on Saturday after a row.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

GMP said the victim was in his mid-teens and has appealed for any CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage.
