B&S Group wants to build an additional warehouse at Houghton-le-Spring

A pharmaceutical firm has sought planning permission to build a new automated warehouse at its site.

B&S Group wants to build a single-storey warehouse extension to one of its units at Dubmire Industrial Estate in Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland.

A planning statement said the facility would support the firm's "continued operation and efficiency" with an automated picking equipment and better storage space.

According to documents, the proposed development would not change or increase the hours of operation at the site.

The applicant said the extension would reduce external disruption by bringing more activity indoors, with deliveries loaded directly into the warehouse rather than through the open yard area.

A decision from Sunderland City Council is expected following a consultation, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
