Three teenagers have been charged after a 16-year-old boy was found to have been stabbed at a park with what police described as a large knife.

Officers were called to the recreation ground on Finborough Road in Stowmarket, Suffolk, just before 20:30 BST on Tuesday.

The trio, aged 18, 17 and 16, were due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Thursday accused of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Paramedics and an air ambulance crew attended and the boy was in a stable condition in hospital, police said.

Suffolk Police said the three suspects, all from Ipswich, were arrested a short while later at Stowmarket railway station.

They were further charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

The 17-year-old was also charged with possession of cannabis, while the 16-year-old was additionally charged with possession of a zombie knife in a public place.

"Officers will be conducting further searches in the local area today to locate the weapon used in the attack, believed to be a large knife," a spokesperson said.

"Detectives appeal to local residents living between the skate park and Stowmarket train station to check gardens and bins for items that have been discarded."
