Lorry trapped on level crossing causes rail delays
Nantwich PoliceTrain passengers faced delays and cancellations after a lorry became stuck on a level crossing in Nantwich.
The lorry driver ignored the yellow box warning on London Road and stopped within the markings, police said.
It then became trapped when the barriers were lowered causing the railway line to be temporarily blocked on Friday afternoon.
The disruption, which has since been resolved, impacted Transport for Wales services between Crewe and Shrewsbury, with delays expected until the evening.
Nantwich PoliceNantwich Police said no injuries were reported, but "the incident caused significant disruption to rail services while safety checks were carried out".
Officers condemned the "extremely dangerous" incidents which happened during the closure, which included members of the public attempting to cross the live railway and a vehicle trying to drive around the barriers.
