How Brummies can watch the Ozzy film first

Ozzy Osbourne fans living in Birmingham will be able to watch screenings of his final concert before anyone else.

The Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath Back to the Beginning show drew in hundreds of thousands of rock fans to Villa Park last summer, just days before his death.

Anyone who missed the gig, or wanted to relive it, will get the chance to watch it in cinemas on 28 October as screenings take place across the UK.

But people who live in Birmingham will be able to watch the film one day earlier, thanks to the Osbourne family who gave permission.

Earlier this year, Ozzy's widow, Sharon Osbourne, spoke about her late husband's connection with his hometown of Birmingham.

"This is the home of metal," she said. "It's Ozzy's home, it's where he was born, what he loved."

Lee Nabbs, who owns The Mockingbird Cinema in Digbeth, said tickets for the 27 October screening are already available.

"I grew up watching the Osbourne's, I loved the show and I'm into Black Sabbath -they're perfect people for Birmingham to be shouting about," he told the BBC.

"[The gig] was a great coming together of bands and a great tribute to a great man.

"To be in that much pain, but to be on that stage and come alive for us. God bless Ozzy, he's doing things for cinema even when he's no longer with us."

The film will be shown at Cineworld's Broad Street and NEC sites, Odeon at Broadway Plaza, VUE at Star City and the Showcase Cinema in Dudley.

Tickets for the 27 and 28 October screenings were released online on Thursday.
