Children escape injury in two separate shootings
BBCFour children and three adults have escaped injury in two separate shootings in Coleraine in the early hours of Monday.
The PSNI are treating both gun attacks as attempted murder.
Police said they received a report at about 00:10 BST that a number of shots had been fired at a house on the Lisnablagh Road.
While dealing with this, officers then received a further report that shots had also been fired at a property on Silverthorn Avenue at about 00:30.
'Could have ended very differently'
PSNI Det Insp Hanbidge said "five people, including three children, were present" at the property on the Lisnablagh Road.
A three-year-old child was in bed at the time of the shooting.
"They, along with the other children and adults present in the house, could have been seriously injured as a result of this attack," Hanbridge said.
An adult and a child were inside the home which was attacked on Silverthorn Avenue.
Hanbridge said: "Again, thankfully no injuries were reported, however, this could also have ended very differently."
Police have appealed to anyone who has any information relevant to their investigation to contact them.
