Transport for Greater Manchester has warned fans to "allow plenty of time for travel"

Football fans travelling to Manchester later have been warned of disruptions to their journey due to tram cancellations.

Thousands of fans are set to arrive at Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium later ahead of the club's fixture against Bournemouth FC at 14:00 GMT.

But due to improvement works, there will be no trams operating on the Altrincham, Trafford Park and Eccles lines and services on the Airport and East Didsbury lines will also be reduced.

Alternative public transport options will be available, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said.

TfGM has advised supporters travelling to or from East Didsbury or Manchester Airport to catch the tram to or from Firswood.

There will also be replacement bus services, and dedicated shuttle buses running before and after the game - details for which are listed on the TfGM website.

"Allow plenty of time for travel," a TfGM spokesperson said.

"We suggest departing an hour earlier than normal to ensure you arrive at the ground on time."
