Man dies after being hit by a car in city centre

A man has died after he was struck by a car in a city centre.

Emergency services were called to Oundle Road, Peterborough, near the junction with Jubilee Street, at about 21:45 BST on Sunday.

The 46-year-old pedestrian was declared dead at the scene, Cambridgeshire Police said.

A man, 52, from Peterborough, who was driving a black MG ZS Excite, was arrested on suspicion of causing death through careless or inconsiderate driving.

Officers appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage in the lead-up to the crash to get in touch.
