Woman admits attempted murder after stabbing boys
BBCA woman has admitted trying to murder two 10-year-old boys at a flat in Lincolnshire.
Police officers found the children with stab wounds after armed officers forced their way into the property in the village of Friskney in November 2022 following a stand-off lasting several hours.
Ann Marie McEvoy, 45, who was holding a large knife, was tasered and arrested.
McEvoy, formerly of Church Walk, Colchester, pleaded guilty to both attempted murder charges when she appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Thursday.
She is currently being held in a secure mental hospital and will be sentenced on 18 September.
Judge Simon Hirst asked for updated medical and psychiatric reports.
"You have pleaded guilty of course to serious matters. I accept at the time you had significant mental health problems," the judge said.
"At this stage I am not giving any indication of what that sentence will be."
The court heard McEvoy was previously deemed unfit to stand trial and made the subject of a hospital order in September 2024 after a jury found she was responsible for stabbing the two boys.
Leanne Summers, prosecuting, said the Crown Prosecution Service had decided to resume criminal proceedings against McEvoy after her condition improved in hospital and she was deemed fit enough to enter her pleas.
Mark Knowles, defending, said McEvoy was willing to enter her guilty pleas as she did not want to put the children through anything more.
The two boys were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
One child had suffered a number of puncture wounds across his chest and a large wound to the centre of his back.
The other boy suffered an injury to his neck near his ear and a deep injury to his left arm.
