Coronation Street star Ian Puleston-Davies is returning to the soap opera more than a decade after he left.

The 67-year-old will reprise his role as Owen Armstrong almost 11 years after the character left Weatherfield, following the collapse of his business and breakdown of his relationship with Anna Windass.

The no-nonsense builder's return will see him move in with daughter Izzy and grandson Jake, and making it clear he blames Anna Windass' son, Gary Windass, for his family's misfortune.

Puleston-Davies, from Flint, in Flintshire, said: "I can't wait to pick up where I left off 10 years ago.

"It's brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen's back and he's still angry."

Puleston-Davies will start filming Owen's return next week and will be back on screen on the cobbles in January.

Since leaving Coronation Street, Puleston-Davies has starred in dramas Pennyworth, Tin Star and After The Flood.

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said she was "thrilled" Puleston-Davies was back.

"He wreaks havoc on the street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test," she said.
