The family of an "amazing" mum-of-three have paid tribute after she died in a crash on the M40 near Lapworth, saying she "was adored by us all".

The emergency services were called to the three-car crash in Warwickshire on the southbound carriageway, between junctions 16 and 15, on Sunday.

Anne Anderson, 68, was a passenger in one of the cars and died at the scene.

"The crash has devastated our small and close-knit family. We lost Anne, who was someone who was adored by us all," her family said.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was released in bail, pending further inquiries, West Midlands Police said.

Anderson, who was from the north-east of England, was a "devoted" wife, sister and "beloved" grandmother, said her family.

She "brought so many smiles to the faces of her loving grandchildren".

"She gave everything to our family, and, even in these darkest of days, we feel incredibly lucky to have had Anne in our lives," they added.

"She will forever be remembered as someone who loved deeply, lived selflessly and brought happiness and joy to us all."

The family said they were pulling together to support Anderson's step-son, who was also in the car.

The force said he was in hospital being treated for "significant" injuries.

"We would like to thank the police for their ongoing support and ask that we are given the space and privacy to come to terms with this tragic loss," they added.
