Special constable charged with rape

William Towner is charged with raping two complainants

A special constable has been charged with rape and coercive and controlling behaviour.

William Towner, 26, who is a special constable with Surrey Police, is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Surrey Police said he has been charged with one count of coercive and controlling behaviour and one count of rape relating to a female complainant between 2016 and 2017.

He is also charged with one count of coercive and controlling behaviour and two counts of rape relating to a second female complainant between 2020 and 2022. Surrey Police said Towner was arrested in September 2022.
