Reward offered to trace man after police attack

A reward of up to £2,500 is being offered for information that leads to finding a man wanted in connection with an attack in which a police officer was hurt.

They were with another officer, trying to restrain a man on Soho Road, Birmingham, on 3 July, when they were attacked.

As they tried to hold on to him near railings, he hit one of them with a baton before fleeing on an e-bike.

West Midlands Police said they were searching for Mahroy Stephenson, 30, from Bartley Green, in connection with the assault.

The independent charity Crimestoppers, which is separate from the police, is urging anyone who may know his whereabouts to come forward anonymously.

Alan Edwards, from Crimestoppers, called it a "serious incident" that he believed "someone may have information that could help."
