Here are five stories you might have missed this week in Peterborough.

Peterborough United unveils its new logo

Peterborough United's new crest was unveiled on Monday

It has been 18 years since Peterborough United's last rebrand, and the club launched a new identity on Monday.

said they were not keen on the design, but Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony previously said branding was a "massive part" of the club's evolution, and he thought the new design would help the League One club secure commercial deals.

Stadium hub helps youngsters score jobs

The hub works with 10 different employers, as well as offering one-to-one support, said Dean Watson

The club was also in the headlines after a youth employment hub based at its stadium revealed it had helped 28 young people find work, since it began in October.

Hub manager Dean Watson said: "It's too easy to brandish this generation with one stick rather than look at every individual person... they do want a job, they're just stuck with what's their next step."

Up to 1,400 jobs on their way to city

The new site on Flaxley Road should be open in September

Online retailer Amazon has announced it is to open a new £107m distribution centre in Peterborough, which could create 1,400 jobs in the city.

Amazon said the new site would launch in late September, with recruitment ongoing for engineers, finance specialists, and health and safety staff.

Burger pair to open bricks-and-mortar unit

A couple who lost their business after they were told their takeaway burger operation must close for lay-by safety reasons are preparing to open their first restaurant.

Adam Miller and Amber Higgs hope to open their first bricks-and-mortar unit in the city centre, because "we are genuinely very passionate about what we do", said Miller.

Knitted exhibition tells yarns from the war

Famous scenes from wartime Britain have been recreated in yarn

And visitors are being urged to visit Peterborough Cathedral, where knitted and crocheted figures are retelling the story of Britain in World War Two.

The Longest Yarn II: Britain at War features 80 panels and eight life-size figures, displayed under the shadow of a huge replica dinosaur skeleton.

The week in sport

Peterborough United's Matty Garbett could line up against England on Saturday, as Thomas Tuchel's side play their first warm-up match ahead of the World Cup against New Zealand.

Garbett made his 37th appearance for his country in Wednesday's 4-0 defeat against Haiti.

The 24-year-old could become the first Peterborough United player to feature in a World Cup, once the tournament gets under way later this month.

Meanwhile, new Peterborough Sports manager Graham Drury said he was aiming for promotion after taking over at Lincoln Road.

The Turbines were relegated from the National League North last season – and Drury has wasted no time in rebuilding his squad with another five new signings being announced this week.

Star forward Cam Hough said fans at Peterborough Phantoms made his two-year stay at the Bretton Rink a memorable experience.

The Canadian announced he would not be returning next season, with rumours suggesting he could be joining an Elite League side.

Hough broke the National League record for goals scored in a single year last season, netting 64 times
