Man dies after being hit by car in Dumfries
GoogleA 43-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Dumfries.
The pedestrian was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta on the A75, between the roundabout at Lockerbie Road and the roundabout for the A701, at about 03:00.
The car then crashed into a silver lorry travelling in the opposite direction.
Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries were reported, and the A75 remains closed for investigation and road repairs.
Sgt Wayne Carnochan said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.
"Our inquiries into the crash are ongoing and we'd ask anyone who witnessed the crash, or saw the man or either vehicle prior, to come forward and speak with officers."
