Man abused girl, 13, after stalking ex-partner
South Yorkshire PoliceA man who sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl while serving a suspended sentence for stalking his ex-girlfriend has been jailed.
Sheffield Crown Court heard Kieron Oldham sent the victim sexualised messages and images on social media before assaulting her the following day in a park in June 2025.
Oldham, 27 and of Barnsley, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child and causing a female 13 or over to engage in a penetrative sexual activity.
Earlier he was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison and given a further year for breaching his suspended sentence. The judge told Oldham he would also serve an additional two years on licence on his release.
Oldham must sign the sex offenders register and comply with a sexual harm prevention order.
He was also given a restraining order and was barred from working with children.
PA MediaProsecutor Helen Chapman told the court Oldham approached the victim and her friend in a park in Barnsley and struck up a conversation during which he asked how old they were.
The friend later recalled how Oldham had been looking her friend "up and down" and that he hid when a member of the public walked past.
Later that day, the defendant befriended the victim on Facebook, Chapman said, and invited her to add him on Snapchat, where he sent her sexualised images and messages.
The following day, the victim shared an update on her Snapchat account with her contacts - which included Oldham - showing her at the same park.
The prosecutor said Oldham went to the location, exposed himself to her and repeatedly asked her to engage in sexual activity, which she refused, before sexually assaulting her.
'Not out of the blue'
Chapman said Oldham had displayed "predatory behaviour" and that an aggravating feature of the offence was that it had been committed in the presence of another child.
Judge Charles Thomas said the offending had involved a "significant degree of planning" and that it was further aggravated by the disparity in age.
"You were effectively twice her age," the judge said.
"The sexual communication that had gone on in the 24 hours before also has to be regarded as effectively grooming behaviour."
The court heard Oldham had four previous convictions, but none for sexual offences.
One of the unrelated convictions was for stalking his ex-partner, the court heard, with the victim of this offence providing a statement to the court in which she described Oldham as having an "ongoing sexual interest in young girls".
"I cannot simply ignore that," the judge said, adding that it would suggest the latest offences were "not simply an isolated incident" or "out of the blue".
Sentencing him, Judge Thomas told Oldham the extended sentence was necessary to protect the public.
Oldham had also pleaded guilty to two separate motoring offences, for which he received six penalty points on his licence.
