A man has been airlifted to hospital after a single-vehicle crash in the south of Scotland.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A714 near Wigtown at about 20:35 on Saturday.

The accident involved a silver Renault Megane that was heading north and its sole occupant - a 26-year-old man - was taken to hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.

Police said inquiries were ongoing and have appealed for any witnesses.
