Two injured as knifeman threatens people in street

Sussex Police is investigating the incident in Sillwood Road, Brighton

Two people have been injured after police were called to reports of a knifeman threatening people in Brighton.

Sussex Police said the suspect was tackled to the ground by members of the public in Sillwood Road at about 18:00 BST on Saturday.

One man was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries and has since been released. Police are yet to give details on the second person's injuries.

A 33-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. A knife was also seized at the scene.

Det Insp Jen Pietersen called the incident "distressing" and appealed for witnesses.
