Driver dies after car hits tree near military base

A man has died after his car left the road and crashed into a tree near a military base in North Yorkshire.

According to police, it happened shortly before 18:00 BST on Sunday when a black Audi, which had left Catterick Garrison, veered off Range Road about half a mile later and struck a tree.

Police said the driver, a 32-year-old man, who had been the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam footage is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
