Armed police were called to Parham Road in Canterbury after reports of a man with a weapon

Armed police have attended a street in a Kent city after receiving reports of a man with a weapon.

Officers were called to an address in Parham Road, Canterbury, shortly after 15:00 BST on Wednesday where a search was carried out.

A 36-year-old man from Maidstone was later found in Station Road West and arrested in connection with the incident, Kent Police said.

He remains in custody while an investigation into the circumstances is under way. a police spokesperson said.
