Crematorium rated 'outstanding' by inspectors
Guildford Borough CouncilA crematorium in Surrey has been rated as "outstanding" by inspectors following an assessment that included care for bereaved families.
Guildford Crematorium achieved a total of 99.32% in the 145 aspects of service delivery, with a perfect score in six out of seven areas, according to the borough council.
The Federation of Burial and Crematorium Authorities (FBCA) also assessed its facilities, like webcasting in its digital services.
Julian Higson, joint strategic director of housing, communities and environment at Guildford Borough Council, said this report "reflects the care, dignity and professionalism our team brings" every day.
The authority said inspectors noted the thoughtful support offered to families, particularly the sensitivity afforded to those experiencing the loss of a child.
Recognition of the "compassionate service provided to families" is "particularly reassuring", Higson added.
The next scheduled inspection will take place in three years.
