No bathing warning after water in brook turns blue
Environment AgencyPeople have been urged to avoid bathing in a brook after its water turned blue.
The Environment Agency (EA) said it was investigating a pollution incident at Littleham Brook in Exmouth, Devon.
It said it suspected the pollution was from an industrial source and had classed it as a category one incident - the most serious - due to the "severe environmental impact and the significant time the brook will need to recover".
A spokesperson said the EA was in contact with East Devon District Council, the UK Health Security Agency and the Animal and Plant Health Agency over the incident.
The spokesperson added their advice was to "avoid contact with Littleham Brook until we advise otherwise".
