Elderly and vulnerable urged to get free vaccines
PA MediaPeople eligible for flu or Covid-19 vaccinations are being offered free jabs for the winter.
The Government of Jersey said islanders within certain groups could receive a vaccination from Tuesday onwards at their GP surgery or pharmacy.
Eligible groups for the flu jab include people aged 65 and over, adults in care homes, pregnant women and those with long-term health conditions. Covid vaccines are available to islanders aged 75 and over, adults living in care homes and immunocompromised people aged six months and over.
The government said more details were available on its website.
Along with flu and Covid, vaccinations for RSV - a virus which causes coughs and colds - are also being offered at GP surgeries.
The government said people eligible for an RSV jab included islanders aged 75 and over, people aged between 65 and 74 with weakened immune systems or a long-term lung condition, pregnant women and people living in care homes.
Andrea Sanabria, interim director of public health, said vaccinations were the "best way" of getting protection from serious illnesses like flu, Covid and RSV.
"Getting vaccinated as early as possible in the season will help ensure you have the best possible protection over the winter months," Sanabria added.
