Review to be done of Western Isles school buildings
Getty ImagesCouncillors have backed plans for a comprehensive review of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar's school buildings.
Chief executive Martin Joyce told the comhairle's education committee the study would enable an investment programme to be developed.
Six new schools were built between 2009 and 2017 through the £125m Western Isles Schools Project.
However, one of the comhairle's school buildings dates back to 1903 and three others are more than 90 years old.
Councillors were told the review would look at a number of options from maintaining the current estate and targeted investment to cluster or shared-campus approaches.
Other options include site mergers or closures, where evidence supported it.
