Five men arrested over courier fraud scam
Getty ImagesFive men have been arrested after elderly people in Wolverhampton were scammed out of thousands of pounds by fraudsters posing as police officers.
The victims, in their 80s, were called and asked to put a large sum of cash in an envelope for an 'officer' to collect - with two residents, believing the scammers to be real officers, handing over a combined total of £10,000.
The men, all 19-years-old, were arrested from a vehicle which was stopped in London on Thursday.
West Midlands Police said they have been detained on suspicious of conspiracy to commit fraud and remain in police custody.
