Mum denies killing son in attack at their home

A mother has pleaded not guilty to killing her son by manslaughter, having already denied murdering him.

Irene Webb, 51, is accused of carrying out the attack at the block of flats they lived at in Norman Crescent, Brentwood, on 19 October 2025.

Several calls had been made to Essex Police about Roman-Vien Klimas' welfare that evening, prompting officers to visit and subsequently find his body.

Appearing at Basildon Crown Court via a video link, Webb was told she would stand trial on 7 June 2027.

The defendant, who is being held at a secure hospital in Norwich, had denied murdering her son at an earlier hearing in November.

Judge Samantha Cohen said the trial would take up to seven days and told Webb: "When it comes round, you must attend."
