Firefighters spend night tackling Glasgow scrapyard blaze
BBCFirefighters have spent the night tackling a major blaze at a scrapyard in Glasgow.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said the alarm was raised at the business on South Street, in the Scotstoun area of the city, at about 23:23 on Friday.
One local resident captured dramatic footage of the fire at its peak, with explosive bangs emitting from an area engulfed in flames.
Nine fire engines, two high-reach vehicles and specialist resources responded to the incident. No casualties were reported.
The SFRS said six fire appliances and one high reach remained in attendance on Saturday morning.
A spokesperson said: "If you can see or smell smoke, please continue to keep windows and doors closed.
"If you are driving through the area and can see smoke, keep air conditioning off and air vents closed."

Members of the public are being advised to continue to avoid the area as firefighters work to make the area safe.
The spokesperson added: "This will be a protracted incident, and we are grateful to the local community for their understanding, patience and cooperation during this time."
Roads near the scene remained closed this morning and thick grey smoke was still visible in the sky above.
