Police responded to reports of gunfire in Gorse Hill, Swindon

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man suffered a suspected gunshot wound.

Wiltshire Police was called to St Paul's Street in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon just before 21:00 BST on Friday after reports of a gun being fired.

The suspect was arrested at an address in Queen's Drive and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The force said a cordon remained in place at both locations for investigation work and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact officers.
