Trains cancelled in Essex due to heatwave
PA MediaRail travellers have been warned to expect disruption after a number of services were cancelled because of the hot weather.
Operator c2c said some services in south Essex had been cancelled on Thursday and Friday.
"Disruption is expected due to heat-related speed restrictions which may cause short-notice delays and cancellations," it said.
"Extremely hot weather can cause a multitude of issues on the rail network including sagging overhead lines, buckled rails and lineside fires, and as such there is a risk of severe disruption to services across the c2c route."
The cancellations were "to help minimise the disruption to services", it said.
Services between Fenchurch Street in London and Grays, Shoeburyness, Leigh-on-Sea and Pitsea are affected.
