Photos reveal extent of fire from e-scooter battery
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue ServiceFirefighters have released photos revealing the scale of damage to a home in Derby where one person was seriously injured.
The pictures were taken by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and show the aftermath of the blaze in Baseball Drive, Normanton, at 09:03 BST on Thursday.
One person was taken to hospital with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, the service said, and several others were treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.
An investigation found that the failure of a lithium-ion battery inside an e-scooter was the likely cause of the accidental fire.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue ServiceThe pictures show the charred insides of rooms in the home as well as smashed windows and damage to the roof.
A spokesperson for the service urged people to only charge e-bikes and e-scooters when they are awake, to avoid storing or charging them on escape routes or in communal areas, and to regularly inspect them for damage.
Fire crews left the scene at 14:58 and "handed over to the responsible housing provider".
