A dangerous driver has been jailed after colliding with a police car and narrowly avoiding another car during a dramatic pursuit through Colwyn Bay in North Wales.

Adam Evans, 31, of Princes Drive, Colwyn Bay, admitted dangerous driving, failing to provide a blood specimen on two occasions, driving when banned and obstructing or resisting police.

Caernarfon Crown Court heard Evans was tasered as he tried to escape and a saliva test was positive for cocaine and cannabis.

Judge Nicola Jones said it was "a deliberate decision to ignore the rules of the road, disregarding the safety of others."

The court heard the pursuit of a Toyota Yaris started on the A55 and ended at roadworks in the early hours of 26 March.

Video footage captured on police dash cam shows Evans driving at high speed through narrow residential streets and avoiding parked and oncoming cars.

Officers pursue Evans as he drives down a narrow street and is then faced with roadworks.

They then stop Evans by nudging the front of the police car with the rear of his, causing it to spin around and become trapped by the roadwork barriers.

Evans, who had previous convictions for drink and drug driving, was jailed for 17 months on Friday 15 May.

Judge Jones imposed a 44 months ban and ordered an extended test.
